There are shelf life in all makeup products and are you confused when to throw away all those old bits of your makeup products?
Mascaras 3 to 6 months They are easily contaminated by the pumping action of the brush and this force bacteria further into the container where the moist, wet environment is ideal for bacteria to grow.
Moisturiser 3 to 12 months Moisturiser should be used up quickly and the best idea is to buy only one moisturiser at a time and use it every day. Moisturiser can be use day and night, one at a time.
Foundation Oil-free foundation 12 months Moisturising, Cream or Compact Foundation 18 months Always wash the sponges (i.e. compact foundation) at least once a week. Use soapy water and allow to dry naturally. Make sure the sponge is completely dry before placing back into the container or compact, or these encourage mould to grow.
Powder 2 years.
Concealer 12 - 18 months You can tell it's had its day when stick concealer get dry and no longer goes smoothly while liquid based concealers may start to go separate or lumpy when they are going off.
Blusher Powder Blush 2 years Cream Blush 12-18 months
Eyeshadow Powder Eyeshadow 2 years Cream Eyeshadow 12-18 months
Eyeliner and Lipliner 2 years
Lipstick 2 years. If you saw any tiny bubbles appear on the surface before it shelf life ended, do not worry. These are just moisture drops and can be wiped away. Do not use lipstick if it is feel dry, scratchy or changes colour.
Lipgloss 18 months to 2 years
Fragrance 18 months to 2 years
1. Do remember to keep all makeup products in optimum conditions such as in a cool, dry place and out of direct sunlight.
2. Do remember to wash all makeup brush and sponge at least once a week and keeping it clean and dry.
3. If you don't need to use any makeup products straight away, try to keep it all cosmetics in their shop wrapping as there is no exposure to air and hence will extend the shelf life.
